Where To Go From Here?

Found this old photo of me in Saltwell park from ten years ago when I used to go to the college that was over the road (it's now flats that seem to be all empty).
That horror show I'm wearing is the first corset I ever made, I am glad to say I have improved somewhat since then hahaha!

Wedding Update: Location and Date!

After a very exciting meeting with wedding planners this morning, it looks like we're getting married in Saltwell Towers!

Saltwell Towers is a very lovely building in the middle of Saltwell Park, and just over the road from where I used to go to college

It's a very beautiful park, and there are plenty of places for photos

Saltwell Towers itself is also pretty beautiful

The room is pretty blank canvas, which is good because it means we can decorate up how we like

Our provisional date is set for November 18th

Old School JSK

Wore my latest JSK for the first time yesterday :)
This is my test piece from the digital pattern drafting program and I am super pleased with how it came out. I have another couple of designs I plan on testing out fairly soon before putting together a pattern collection for sale.

I also saw my mam yesterday and she gave me a couple of gifts, an antique style sewing machine necklace with a watch in it and a deep berry coloured lipstick.

Black Watch

I went fabric shopping yesterday and picked up some Black Watch tartan that I think I might make some trousers with and some chocolate brown fabric that was quite cheap for making toiles a d test peices with. :)

Review: Adored.co.uk

Legal Disclaimer: The item was sent to me free for the purposes of this review. All thoughts provided are my own honest opinions.

With Valentines Day coming up soon Adored.co.uk kindly sent me this Passion Clover Body to review.
Adored.co.uk is one of the leading UK online Adult shops, aiming to cater for all of your needs from an adult shop regardless of your personal preferences, gender or sexuality.

Back of the box

With such a positive and inclusive message I was really looking forward to reviewing the company.

Firstly they promise discreet shipping, now I have heard that before from companies, I did once order something from China that arrived with "PERSONAL MASSAGE DEVICE" printed in huge letters across the box, so I was a little sceptical to say the least,
So I'm quite pleased to say they lived up to that promise.

Inner packaging

My package arrived in a plain brown box, with a Royal Mail Tracked label featuring my address and the company address, the company address makes no mention of Adored.co.uk, so if you have a nosey postman you needn't worry about finding out what you've been ordering!

Inside

Inside the brown box the body was inside another box that shows a photo of the product. The back of that box, shows the same photograph again in a smaller scale, along with some awards that the manufacturer Passion, has won. Inside is another black box, and inside that is product.

Fastener

The body itself is made from powermesh and stretch PVC, it fastens with a bra clasp style fastening under the crotch and a plastic clip behind the shoulders.

Clip

Now my next worry was fit. The site doesn't really have a sizing guide, and as a lot of people know women's clothes sizes can be a bit random, what is a medium in one store can be a large in another and a small in yet another. So I picked L-XL and crossed my fingers.
And well I lucked out.

I have no idea what my face is doing in this photo

Obviously I am not the same size or shape as the model on the box, not by a long shot, but the body still fits, still looks flattering and I still feel pretty confident enough to wear it, also my fiancé said it looked great on me, so if you are looking to buy something for Valentines and you / your partner is plus size then this could be perfect for you.

Half view

I do have a couple of issues though, firstly I have quite wide shoulders and I was unable to fasten the back clip, it's not a huge issue, as I think it looks fine without it, however if you do have wide shoulders and you do think the shoulder fastening is a big deal to you then maybe try going one size up from the one you were planning on ordering.
I also don't think that the bra clasp style fastening is really the best thing for everybody, if you or your partner struggles loosening those kinds of fasteners then this probably isn't for you, as I struggling with a clasp doesn't sound like my idea of a perfect Valentines evening.

Worn as part of an outfit

However, back to the positives of the Clover Body. Not only is it great as a piece of lingerie, it can also work pretty damn well as part of an outfit. Now obviously you do need a bit of confidence to get away with it, but honestly, I'd quite happily wear this as part of an outfit to a Goth/ Alternative music night.

Worn as a top.

So overall, it's pretty versatile.
The quality is great, the price is great, great service, great packaging, and aside from a couple of minor details, I think this is a pretty great product and so I'd give it an 8/10.

Velvet Bats

Ah glorious Winter photoshoots!

We waited for almost two weeks hoping it would snow, and it didn't, today I woke up to snow o.0 I swear the weather is trolling me!

Nevertheless we did manage to get out and get my first photoset of 2016.

I really love this cape and don't want to give it back!

Unexpected Surprises - Welcome New Readers!

(royalty free image from Dover books)

I jst checked my stats and discovered I have a LOT of new people clicking through via The Black Rose, who it turns out have linked to me in their Top 0 Goth and Alternative blogs of the year for 2015.
This is a huge unexpected surprise for me, as I've had a bit of a weird year as far as blogging goes, and I feel like I've been a little off the boil lately, but I guess obviously it's not been as bad as I thought?

Anyhow if you have clicked through and you're wondering what the heck creepy guys on instagram, awkward drunk photos and green pumpkin squashes have to do with goth, I've made a list of some of my favourite posts.

The Most Read One

My most read post of all time, originally posted in 2012, with an update added in 2014, this was a response to the Daily Mail (a UK tabloid newspaper)'s claim that Lolita fashion, was about attracting paedophiles.

The Post I Am Most Proud Of

Shot by Greame Owens Photography

This post from February 2014 does come with quite a big Trigger Warning as it deals with some body shaming comments I found online about myself and various other people when our photos were used without our permission and photoshopped to meet mainstream beauty ideals. I also phrased part of it in a way I wouldn't do now as I have grown and learned a lot in the last couple of years. Yet still I am most proud of this post, it was the tipping point at which I said that ignoring trolls doesn't work, if you ignore people then they are never challenged, people think their opinion is normal and nothing ever changes. It also eventually led me to my first appearence on Kawaii International and doing a podcast for The Curvy Podcast.

The Time I Was Challenged To Say Things In German

A few months back Ramona of Just Keep Brains challenged me to say some words in German... Hilarity ensued! Don't switch it off straight away at the end as there's a post credit scene.

My Favourite Post

Not very goth (I was wearing a punk scarf to keep the sand out of my face for a start) but still my favourite.
Back in September 2013 my partner Kev proposed to me in the Sahara Desert, in January 2014 we finally uploaded the video!

So I hope that's a decent TL;dr of my blog.

Creep Shaming

Christmas Day, Christmas bloody day... Shouldn't you be eating sprouts and watching Dr Who?

Sorry to start the new year on a rant but I am so sick of keeping quiet about this kind of thing. If you like one of my photos on instagram, like the photo, maybe comment that you like the photo, don't PM me out of the blue on CHRISTMAS BLOODY DAY AND ASK IF I THINK YOU'RE HOT.

In which he becomes self aware

Instagram is not a dating site, please don't treat my inbox like Plenty of Fish. The rope thing in the first message relates to a shibari photo I put up over a year ago. I like shibari, and I as learning it for a while but then the class I was learning at lost it's venue so now I am no longer learning (except from books, which isn't really the same as there's nobody around to say "hey that's not quite right do it this way"). It was fun and I posted photos, they're all SFW and ven if they weren't this is no reason to creep on me.

I didn't respond so he just kept messaging o.0

No Mr random internet guy, no I do not want to practice tying you up, or being tied up by you. I have no idea who you are and your decision to randomly message me and not get the hint when I didn't reply makes me think you're probably not safe, your idea of buying rope at Poundland tells me you've not researched anything about rope types and that lets me KNOW you're not safe.

TL;dr No more nice Queens off the Wild Frontier, if you creep on me I will name and shame.
