Inspirations: The Countess of Castiglione

I recently found this picture floating around on Facebook and found it very interesting, so I decided to find out who she was... I think I have found a new Muse!

Virginia Elisabetta Luisa Carlotta Antonietta Teresa Maria Oldoïni was a scandalous woman in her time, she posed for hundreds of photographs (this in nothing these days I suppose, at my last check I have over 5,000 photos on Facebook alone, but in the 1800's photography was a much more arduous process) , married a Count had multiple affairs (including one with Emperor Napoleon III of France) and was in my eyes at least, Queen of the big dress!

I think what I find so interesting about her is that seemed so unafraid to experiment with poses, in the above photograph it almost looks like she is hovering above the stairs.
Not a single photo I have found shows her looking pissed off at having to stand still for a long time while the camera worked it's magic, each and every one is it's own little work of art.

A lot of her images incorporated and almost surrealist quality with her use of mirrors and cropping, some of her images even a little risque, such as the one above... Practically pornography by the standards of the day!
