Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 5 Thoughts

I have seen the original anime in both it's dubbed version and subtitled several times through, although I'm really bad at remembering the Japanese character names so I'll be referring characters as their westernised names within this post, I have also read a few of the mangas but not all because I've never had the cash to be able to justify completing my collection when I have so many other things I want or need to get first. I have unfortunately never managed to find a dubbed or subtitled version of the live action Sailor Moon. from what I've read Sailor Moon Crystal is a lot closer to the manga than the original anime is.
In order to compare the episodes respectively I watched both the original anime and Sailor Moon Crystal ( you can watch SMC on Hulu in some countries, I couldn't get that to play here in the UK so I googled and found a stream of it on another site, however I'm not sure how legal the stream is so I'm not going to link to it).
From this point onwards THAR BE SPOILERS!

The episode begins with Queen Beryl complaining that her four kings have not yet found the silver crystal or gained enough energy to wake their supreme leader, and Nephrite promising that he will get the energy by harnessing the powers of love.
Cut to a photo of Molly in her cousin's wedding dress and some talk between Molly, Serena and random background extra number 125 about lucky June weddings and Melvin popping up with a rumour about vanishing bridegrooms!
Enter Lita, giganticly tall (I feel your pain!) and wearing her previous school uniform because this one does not come in her size and whispers about her superhuman strength!
At lunch time Serena sneaks over to say hi, and is saved from being hit in the face with a baseball by Lita's quick reflexes and then greeds a rice ball from her.

The girls chat for a bit and it turns out Lita is basically Pinterest personified, and then the girls head to the arcade where Lita is super awesome at the Sailor V video game, and in fact only loses when she's distracted by Andrew (is that a potential romance I see? :D ), Ami commends Serena's ability to make friends with anybody and Andrew mentions overhearing some customers talking strangely.
The girls head to the Bridal store and ogle some dresses and then overhear some women talking about the "curse", supposedly at night one of the mannequins comes to life and seduces men... Spooky!
Next the trio head to the temple and meet Rei to discus the ghost bride, Rei has a very strange feeling about Lita, who then wanders off on her own.
A woman at the temple prays her fiancĂ©e will come back, whilst another woman comforts her and tries to tell her the ghost isn't real.

Later Andrew is hypnotised by the ghost bride, and Lita remembers that he looks like someone she used to have a crush on, suddenly Andrew appears and embraces her, telling her he loves her. Fortunately for Lita Darien happens to be passing and realises that Andrew is hypnotised!
Meanwhile Serena is having a very strange dream and wakes to find Tuxedo Mask at her window who leads her to Lita, Luna alerts Rei and Ami and the girls realise that the ghost is actually a monster from the Negaverse and transform to help Lita and Andrew. The bride catches Lita and Nephrite appears.

Lita remembers the moment the guy she had a crush on rejected her and falls into a slump believing what Nephrite says about the stupidity of love, but Serena shatters the illusion by speaking out about how love is not an illusion at all. Lita turns around and faces Nephrite to fight him, her planetary symbol glows and Luna throws her her pen, she doesn't need any instructions, her instincts guide her and she transforms into Sailor Jupiter and attacks Nephrite and the bride, Nephrite has a moment of recognition (which of course made me make squeeing noises because before they both came to earth Jupiter and Nephrite were a couple), the bride is destroyed and Nephrite makes his escape.
Tuxedo Mask, who has been watching the whole thing, skips away over the tops of some buildings and it looks like Luna is finally starting to realise he's trustworthy.

Lita explains why she came to their school and Rei says they don't have time to cry over guys, and that's it for this episode!

Really enjoyed this one, really enjoying SMC in general, looking forward to the next episode!
