Clockwork Rudolph

I won a pocketwatch necklace for being one of the best dressed at It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Steampunk last night, super happy :)
I had a really good time, really enjoyed the bands and the storytellers, and the all around fun.
Steampunks are all so nice :)

In Which I am Confused

Someone posted this to Behind the Bows this week, I am baffled by it.
Is it supposed to be negative? Positive? Just damn weird?
Is that the rabbit from Donnie Darko censoring out my face? Are they implying that school children look up to me? Is anybody's design skills really that bad?
So many questions o.0

Looks like rain dear!

I went out as a Classic Lolita reindeer for the Christmas Shock Therapy last night.
Unfortunatly the camera quality isn't quite good enough to see my little red nose.

Antlers and bow for ultimate cuteness :3

The Interview

So I have been following this for a few days now.
TL;dr Unless you've been living under a rock you'll know that Sony have pulled the film The Interview due to terror threats that may or may not have come from North Korea.
In my opinion, while I obviously don't think that it is deserving of terror threats, I kind of have to wonder why Sony didn't see this coming when they agreed to make the film in the first place.
Can you imagine the uproar if someone in North Korea made a film about assassinating a leader of the western world?
And the longer this goes on the more angry I am becoming that so many people are so pissed off about having their movie taken away, people who have stood by and said nothing while the people of North Korea have way more than a movie taken away from them by their corrupt leadership.

Embroidered Diaries

Since their finished now and the recipients unwrapped them straight away I thought I'd show the first two finished embroidered gifts :)

I made diaries for Kev's father and his girlfriend Rose, who is over from America ans staying for three months this year, I thought they might like to write about their time together :)

The Glamour That Is My Life

This is my glamerous life working with bands.
I make pyramids out of sandwiches, and try and arrange their food in an aesthetically pleaseing way.

TEH GLAMOR

Is it me or are MaoM wrappers all a bit... wrong?

In related news, Combichrist played the best gig I've ever seen them play when we had them at Newcastle uni last week :)

The Results of Just Over Two Weeks of Tightlacing

Not a huge amount of change yet, and I don't see any lasting difference when I take my corset off, but it's almost closed at the back now.
I've also bought new laces for my black and white striped underbust:

As seen here a few years back.
It is a lot easier to stealth in this one, so I feel like this might become my every day corset.

Nananananananananana EMBROIDERY!

I tested out the design that looks suspiciously like Baphomet today, pretty sure this is going to end up on a skirt at some point.

Batman logo! Super chuffed with how this turned out :)

Superman logo, also pretty cool :)

Abstract kitty

"It's not normal is it?" - A response to the latest Lolita media storm

Update 07/12/2014:
I've been super busy over the past few days and haven't had time to blog, so I decided to pull out one of my most popular posts from the vaults and update the dead links in it. A lot has been said about Venus online since I posted this, some of which may be true, some of which may not, as someone who has had people talk utter shit about me online myself I always take the words of anonymous cowards with an entire shaker of salt, and so I still stand by everything I wrote here. The tabloids still write this kind of  drivel, I had a phone call a few days ago that I suspect may have been a tabloid trying to write a similar scare story about the horrors of corsetry that I will write about in a few days time.

Venus Palermo, 15 year old youtuber with almost 30,000 subscribers.

About a week ago a UK tabloid called The Daily Mail (I prefer to call them The Daily Fail) ran one of those "TEENAGERS DO THINGS AND YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED!" kind of scare stories about Dakota Rose ("Scene Queen" Kiki Kannibal's younger sister) and Venus Palermo's "doll styles" and how it was obviously sexualising children (take a look at that photo up there, if you think "I would like to have sex with her" then you need help because you are paedophile and that has nothing to do with how she's dressed).
So yeah, just one more reason to call it The Daily Fail...

A few days ago Venus appeared on Daybeak (our morning news show) with her mother:

In my opinion the female interviewer was pretty rude, but bravo to Venus's mother for her quick response.
It got me thinking though,
"It's not normal is it?"

This is what I looked like at her age, I was just starting to come out of the shell I'd built around myself and starting to experiment with my self image.
I cut most of my hair off and dyed what was left black, started to experiment with make up and hung out with people who wore Nirvana hoodies and too much eyeliner.
It was fun while it lasted.
I know I'm not the only one who started to play around with looks at that age either, so yes reporter lady, yes I do think it's "normal".

As for Venus herself, well I may not agree with everything she does and says, but again she's 15, while that's not a free pass to be an idiot, she's not an idiot and I think can be forgiven the occasional mistake...We all did silly things at 15...I wore shirts that didn't over my stomach for a start...

Embroider All The Things!

Here are my latest embroideries, these were all raken while they were still in the hoop so of course still need all of the loose thrrwads trimming off.

Don't Even Blink!

After Christmas is over and out of the way, I am going to have a big wardrobe sort out and get rid of some things that aren't really my style any more and make some new clothes to fill in the gaps in my wardrobe.

This dragon is neon orange

I have a distinct kack if long skirts these days as most of the ones I had wore out and I never got around to replacing them, so I will make more and embelish them with machine embroidery.

The Embroiderers send their regards!

There are so many inspiring designs on the one disk that my mother bought that I think it will be a while before I have to buy anything (although I do have my eyes on a few Urban Threads designs).

One of the strangest things I found is that there are a lot of Christian religious designs on the disc, which in itself is not to strange until you find the folder marked "Heraldic Goats", in which several of the designs are quite blatently Baphomet!
I haven't yet had a chance to try those ones, but I think some kind of Baphomet skirt may have to be mine after Christmas!

In the Movies

Electricity, the film that I was an extra in is in cinemas from December 12th.
So long as it didn't get chopped out I'm in a PVC outfit and my Dracula corset in the club scene.
Regardless of if they used that part or not, I think it sounds like a really great film, and I'm looking forward to seeing it :)
