What We're Playing This Week: Hordes of Hordes

A piece of the action!

Hordes of Hordes is one of those games that seems extremely familiar at first, it's a simple "defend the castle" kind of game, where waves of enemies are thrown at you getting progressively harder each time.
It may not be a new concept, but it is pretty well done in this case, the cutesy art style and challenging levels make Hordes of Hordes incredibly addictive.

Sunday Round Up - Alice, Art and Slut Shaming

Monday: Retronaut: The real Alice in Wonderland A collection of photographs of Alice Pleasance Liddell (later known as Hargreaves), the girl who inspired Lewis Carroll to write Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Wednesday: The Kissed Mouth: Fat is a Pre-raphelite Issue Nice entry on the societal pressure to be thin.

Friday: Sparkle in Springs: Delicate Glitter Masquerade Mask A beautiful mask (with a link to a tutorial on how to make a similar one).

Saturday:(NSFW) Girl on the Net: Sorry Sluts but your Vagina does not had a "clear history" button Girl on the net's response to slut shamers. Very interesting read but NSFW.

Sucking the life out of style!

No hair of the day today, I'm going to an event and I'm repeating the Russian Traditional style, but I did discover the other night that someone has put the episode of Snog, Marry, Avoid that I was in on Youtube, so those of you who live in countries where they haven't aired this yet (I hear it's all ready broadcast in Australia), or who missed it can now see :)

I'm in this part near the end in the "Style Sinners" section (after the guy with purple arms...Is he really from Newcastle? I've never seen this guy before 0.o).
So what did you think of the episode?
Personally I liked the first make-over, but I am glad that the second one went back to being Olivia Dean, she looks so much better and more confident as a woman.

Alt Snap: Kingston Upon Thames Part 3

How cool is her fascinator?

Hair of the day 28/09/2012 - Elrond hair

Ok I cheated and used an English braid for the big one because my arms are made of pain from non-stop printing and the giant fistail yesterday didn't help.

Sorry this is sideways :/ This is a detail shot of the smaller fishtail braids though.

Style Guides: Classic Lolita

A Classic Coordination featuring Pumpkin Pants (image via Victorian Maiden )

Classic is another style of Lolita, this one very big on historical influences, beautiful quality laces and braided hair.
Classic is often seen as a more mature style, and as thus is often a style that fans of OTT sweet move onto when they feel they are a little old for sweet.

Image via Classic Lolita

Classic Lolita is probably the most modest of the Lolita substyles, long sleeved OPs are common, as are long sleeved and high necked blouses (although scoop necked, chiffon blouses are also seen in this style).
Bonnets are also quite popular, although these are usually simpler than the ones seen in Sweet.
Other common head wear includes berets, and bowler hats.

The Bare Essentials

Classic styled OPs and JSKs usually have a floral theme, look for something with a toned down colour scheme, brights are very rarely seen in Classic.

Don't forget your petticoat! Petticoats in Classic tend not to be quite as "poofy" as in other styles, but they are still a basic requirement!

If you're choosing to wear a JSK make sure you get a blouse for under it, as I said long sleeved, high necked styles are popular in Classic, as for colour, bright white is uncommon, creams and ivories being more favoured. Also popular are deep jewel tones.

While knee highs and OTKs are used, tights and stockings are a lot more common in this sub-style, often coordinated with the colour of the blouse if worn with a JSK.

Shoes are often Vintage, or Vintage replicas. Oxfords and Victorian boots are very common in this type of Lolita.

Lookbook - Ebba Z. Let's Dance to Joy Division

I really like this outfit of Ebba Z's, the studded cap is a really nice touch and I love the skirt with the print of the Joy Division, Unknown Pleasures album cover.

Hair of the Day 26/09/2012 - Russian Traditional Take 2

Remember this post in my glamorous dressing gown?

Well with a little help from LaDollyVita33 I finally worked out how to do this properly!

From the side!

I am SO HAPPY with this! I think it will be most certainly joining my Whitby hairstyle repertoire!

The amazingly helpful instructions (this version ends in a long braid rather than the bun of the original but I think the bun goes better with my style).

Victorian Twists Tutorial

My reference image:

Hair of the Day 25/09/2012 - Éowyn hairstyle

I too don't own a circlet like Eowyn's, thus we have the rose circlet for this.

From the back.

I think this would work nicely with Classic and Sweet Lolita :)

Loepsie's tutorial! I'm getting, very, very close to trying Arwen's battle braid now!

TWO YEARS!

Yes, yes this is the best gif ever.

As of a couple of days ago (the 17th to be precise) I have been a blogger for two years!
Everybody party!!!

What we're playing this week - Cabinet Noir

My current pinned cards.

Cabinet Noir is the new offering from Failbetter Games, similar in style to their other two games, Fallen London and The Night Circus, it proves to be just as addictive and well written.
The story follows a person (who can be male, female or of unknown gender, as my character is), who is a spy in the service to The Cardinal in 17th Century France.
You must spy on people, work out their secrets and decide if they should be taken to The Bastille or not, sometimes you must make terrible decisions, and others are a lot more fun.
Thus far my character has rubbed shoulders with the gentry and the poor of France, flirted with Gentlemen and Ladies, taken favours and debts from Nuns and the Clergy and gained several hard earned lessons!

The game promises to be shorter than Fallen London (so perhaps it won't eat my life), but it is no less exiting!

Jane Eyre Inspired Hair Tutorial

I kind of failed to get a decent shot of the back so here is a photo:

I also did a vlog post a few days ago that I was unable to post here because the blogger ipad app is a bit pants:

This isn't everybody, but this is a lot of the people who were also in the same show as me the other day (I won't ruin any surprises though :) )

Derp, I meant Stoke not Sheffield

Sitting in a rather plush hotel room with Kev! About to watch some Dr Who and chill for a bit :)

Busy Busy Busy!

So the night before last I was in Leeds (I was too sleepy to blog yesterday sorry!), to see Angelspit, I'm off to Sheffield to be eaten alive today (I will explain later!) and on Monday I'm heading to London to do some filming.
If I'm a bit quiet I'm sorry!
I intend to make a couple of vlogs when I'm in London, but I'll be using the ipad and the blogger app doesn't seem to want to let me link to my youtube account so you may want to keep an eye on http://www.youtube.com/user/Queensofthewild/featured

Love you all :) xxx

Le test

Mobile app pomp de pomp!

Posting schedule

Things are rather hectic at the moment so for a little while at least it looks like we'll be back to only one post per day.
As soon as I have time I'm prop it back up to two though :)

Hair of the day 12/09/2012 - Sabrina Braids

Not one of the best I have done recently :/

Hair of the day 10/08/2012 - Grecian Braid Wheel

Rather proud of how well this one turned out!

I used this tutorial, athough I think I may try again using Dutch Braids rather than French braids.

Colouring history

I submitted a couple of photos from my family album to /r/picrequests and tylradm5, geqagae and SallyVate were kind enough to recolour them for me.

I'm very grateful, and love them :)
